What were the blog posts that were most popular on the BoardAssist blog in 2015?  Thanks to Google Analytics, its easy for us identify which ones resonated most with our followers.  As the advice our guest bloggers offered in 2015 is certainly just as timely as we start 2016, we thought it would be a great idea to thank our guest bloggers again for their wisdom and republish their great advice with you now!

Five of Our Most Popular Blog Posts of 2015

1.  As a part of Google Grants, qualifying nonprofits can earn a free advertising budget of up to $10,000 each month to use on AdWords to help promote their website and cause. But most nonprofits we work with don’t realize this amazing gift is theirs for the asking.  Others that do know, don’t understand how easy it is to get and use a Google AdWords Grant.  Is Your Nonprofit using Google’s Free AdWords Grant?  Great ideas from Nonprofit Hub!

2.  As one of the leading personalized nonprofit board matching services in the country, we get asked quite a lot, “what can my board be doing better to win at the board recruiting game?” We would answer that your board is already way ahead of a lot of other nonprofits if they understand that board recruiting is indeed a competitive sport, with not enough terrific board members available to fill all the board seats that open up each year. For more on this important topic, our readers turned to our series on best practices and its final post, Board Recruiting Best Practices – A Wrap Up.

3.  Guest financial blogger Paul Konigstein gave us all a lot of terrific nonprofit finance advice last year.  His most read guest blog for us:  Six Important Tips For Your IRS Form 990.  A nonprofit misses a terrific opportunity to tell their story as fully as possible if they are not thinking strategically about how information is presented in this important document.  Pauls’ 6 Reasons Finance Belongs in Your Nonprofit Board Room was also a big hit!

4.  How to Find the Perfect Nonprofit Board Matching Service  We wrote this blog in 2014, but in 2015 it remained one of the 5 most widely read blogs we published.  Thinking about joining a nonprofit board and not sure where to begin?  We hope this post will help show you the way.  Top Ten Tips for Finding a Perfect Nonprofit Board also remained extremely popular.

5.   With all the email traffic competing for attention with your nonprofit’s message, how do you stand out? Our good friends down at nonprofit Tech Impact in Philadelphia had some great advice for us over the year.  One of their most widely read guest posts for us was 8 Tips To Make Your Nonprofit’s Emails More Clickable.  Thanks Tech Impact!

We were delighted that we had a chance to share so much wonderful content with our readers in 2015, and look forward to lots more great guest posts in 2016.  Let us know if there’s a nonprofit governance topic you would like to see us cover, and we’ll do our best to address it this year.
